Why I'm Running
As a professional accountant and small business owner with deep roots in our community through various sports and organizations, I am committed to our communities. Most recently, I have been helping local families and businesses navigate the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
What They're Saying
Thoughtful, Practical, Accessible Leadership
I am confident I have the expertise, compassion, and approachability to serve our community well as we navigate our way through the COVID-19 pandemic.
Why Choose Me?
My name is Darrell Jessome and I am asking for your vote to become the new Councillor for District 13. Please allow me to introduce myself, tell you why I’m running and why I hope to earn your vote.
With my wife, Pam, we’ve lived in District 13 for over 30 years where we raised our four sons. I am a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and started my own small business in 2002, (now Jessome & Associates). Over the last 40 years I have successfully worked with all levels of government, dealing with regulations, taxation and general matters for individuals, businesses and non-for-profit organizations, including related Covid-19 matters in the last several months.
Outside of my professional life, I am a Director and Past Vice-Chair of the St Margarets Centre, a volunteer with the Saint Vincent de Paul Society and Chair of the Sackville-Bedford Meals on Wheels (which includes Hammonds Plains). I’ve been a member of the St. James Catholic Church Council (now Holy Apostles Parish/St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Faith Community) and volunteered on many sporting and recreational groups including Halifax County United Soccer, TASA Minor Hockey and Soccer Nova Scotia, with both male and female athletes. My goal in volunteering has always been to ensure that those in need are supported and that we give our children an opportunity to be active and have fun.
We are facing unique challenges right now and those challenges require an unparalleled response. My experiences in our community over the last 30 years have focused my efforts on finding solutions for individuals and business owners, making me strongly- positioned to focus my energy to work with people in our community on building a positive environment for all residents and support those who need help.
I believe these times call for strong, sincere leadership. I am confident I can be that leader.
In the weeks ahead, I will be exploring as many ways as I can to reach out and I look forward to making a connection with you. Alternatively, you can reach out to me through my webpage, follow me on social media or by phone:
